* Assisting with compliance filings

* Data-entry and clerical tasks

* Other tasks as assigned

Key qualities we’re looking for:

ActBlue seeks interns!

ActBlue, the nation’s largest source of funds for Democrats, is now seeking interns for the Spring semester and Summer session. We are looking for dynamic and passionate people who share our commitment to a Democratic victory in 2008 to participate in internships with our political, legal, fundraising, and communications departments.

Legal internship: Together with ActBlue's Staff Counsel, legal interns will conduct research of campaign finance laws and regulations at the state and local levels, with the goals of ensuring ActBlue's compliance with all relevant laws and regulations and expanding the jurisdictions in which ActBlue may operate. The legal intern will provide critical compliance support by assisting with, among others, campaign finance filings at the federal and state levels, IRS filings, and state business filings.

What this means for you: We're looking for someone with a keen interest in campaign finance and legal research, precocious research skills, a commitment to Democratic politics, and unusual attention to detail. Legal background a bonus, but not a dealbreaker.

Fundraising internship: Together with the Finance Director, fundraising interns will work to expand ActBlue's donor base in Boston and across the country. Fundraising interns will conduct donor research for the purpose of identifying new donor prospects, maintain and update ActBlue's donor records and profiles, assist the Finance Director with donor communication and cultivation by drafting thank-you letters and other fundraising materials, and assist with the planning and execution of ActBlue's fundraising events.

What this means for you: We're looking for someone with impeccable attention to detail, superb writing ability and pristine grammar, solid organizational skills, unusual poise, and the ability to interact comfortably with diverse groups.

Communications internship: Together with the Communications Director, Communications interns will be working on pitching stories to media outlets (print, television, online), developing a branding and marketing strategy for the organization, solidifying a long-term message calendar, building a network of academic experts and opinion leaders, creating new written materials for ActBlue users, and working on the content on the site, all toward the goal of quadrupling the number of individuals with active ActBlue fundraising pages by early fall.

What this means for you: We're looking for someone with superb writing ability (please send two writing samples, 3-5 pages in length, of varied tone and/or character), precocious research skills, a commitment to Democratic politics, creativity and intuition. Basic HTML skills or ability to learn a bonus, as are skills in any of the creative disciplines. Above all, we're looking for great ideas, a proactive personality, and an interest in developing a particular area of interest while at ActBlue.

Political internship: Together with the Political Director, Political interns will work to manage relationships with ActBlue’s diverse constituency base, which includes campaigns, political and county parties, netroots, and donors. Interns will also be responsible for assisting with customer service support for these groups, as well as researching and tracking candidates, assisting the treasurer with state compliance issues, and other duties as assigned. These tasks will be performed with the overall goal of increasing ActBlue’s visibility among constituencies and the general public.

What this means for you: We’re looking for someone with a commitment to Democratic politics, a proven and outstanding ability to multi-task, precocious research skills, a fastidious attention to detail, and the ability handle a variety of customer service requests with finesse. Political interns must be fast learners as well as effective communicators who are ready and willing to spread the word about ActBlue.
