Asian American Civic Project curtis@apaforprogress.org On July 1, 2008, Asian Pacific Americans for Progress PAC will be hosting a special Happy Hour to support the Asian American Civic Project, a new initiative to encourage more Asian Americans to pursue careers in politics and public service. The event will be held at Bann from 7:30PM to 9:30PM. Across America, there is a shortage of Asian Americans actively serving as political organizers, elected legislators, and civic leaders. There needs to be a stronger pipeline to encourage, facilitate and support Asian Americans who want to enter careers in progressive politics. The Asian American Civic Project is a new political training and placement program for Asian Americans recent college graduates. Five participants will be selected this year to attend the Emily's List Campaign School and to work on a competitive campaign for three months with a paid stipend. This will also be a great opportunity to network with Asian Americans working in government, politics, and the non-profit sector, as well as other professionals within the New York City area.
