Arizona Netroots / Blogosphere Fundraising Push

Together, we have done so much. The Arizona blogosphere convinced Harry Mitchell to run for congress, broke the story about the Renzi land-swap investigation, first reported on Don Goldwater’s plan to lock up illegals and force them to build a wall, and survived the CD8 Primary. Now – today – we need to unite and do one final financial push for our Federal Candidates.
This Friday is the last big day to donate. While we could (and should) keep giving after today, this is the weekend where campaigns make their final plans for the last 10 days of the campaign. Give today to make sure they have what they need.
We thought we could do it in 2004 but came up short, now in 2006 talking about TURNING AZ BLUE is more than just rhetoric. Let’s put these keyboards to some use – and get much needed GOTV money to our great Democratic Candidates!!! Donate today and get your friends to do the same!!
If you are a bloggeer who would like to join this effort, send an email to tonycani@gmail.com with the candidate you want to add, the blog you write for, and the text you want posted about the candidate!

Few candidates have as much experience serving the people of Arizona as Harry Mitchell. After graduating from ASU, Harry became a public school teacher in Tempe. Colleagues of his (tired of his constant griping about the need for improved leadership in Tempe) convinced Mitchell to run for the city council. He was elected and went on to become Tempe’s most popular and effective mayor. Serving for 16 years (most of those while still teaching at Tempe High), Harry oversaw the revitalization of Mill Avenue, a difficult task that required hard work, creativity, and an ability to build consensus across party lines, and between residents and businesses.
After 16 years as Mayor, Harry took his hard work and dedication to the State Senate. Serving the people of Tempe, Scottsdale, and Ahwatukee for 8 years, Harry used his down to earth style of politics to advocate for Arizona’s students, fight to create jobs in Arizona, and hold a constantly out of touch Republican Legislature in check.
Harry is EXACTLY what the voters of CD5 need in congress. Help Send J.D. Hayworth home – and Harry to DC! Donate today!

There is a need for change in Arizona’s first district. You see a stark contrast between one of the most corrupt lawmakers of our generation and a candidate with a vision and a passion to fight for Northern Arizona. Ellen Simon has what it takes, we here at Lofty Donkey believe in her, and that is why we have sponsored her in this fundraising effort. This is going to be a close race, and Ellen needs the resources to spread her vision throughout the district and to fight back Renzi’s unscrupulous campaign tactics. This is the last chance to give where it can make the greatest difference.

Gabrielle Giffords is a small businesswoman who was the youngest woman to be elected to the Arizona State Senate. While she was in the legislature, she fought for progressive ideals over the opposition of a hostile majority. Now, she is trying to be Arizona’s third congresswoman, representing a district that includes metropolitan Tucson, agricultural communities like Elgin and Willcox, and old mining towns like Bisbee, Tombstone and Douglas. She will bring ethusiasm and intellect to the job and do our state proud. We need Gabrielle Giffords because change can’t wait.

(write-up coming soon, but while you are waiting for that – how about giving Jim some cash to make sure Jon Kyl has a nice long vacation and things like comprehensive immigration reform, stem cell research, alternative energy, and a sensible end to the conflict in Iraq come sooner, rather than later!)
