Can we all come together and agree that it is time for sensible and compassionate leadership in the United States Congress? We are faced with tremendous challenges that include a damaged economy, an environment headed for meltdown and a mean-spiritedness that denies equality of opportunity, all thanks to a Republican agenda based on looking out for number one to the exclusion of everyone else.

Michele Bachmann challenged us to "examine all Congressmen to see who is pro-America and who is not pro-America." We should, indeed, be takin' care of business in identifying those representatives who do not share our values and then sending them down, down to defeat in the next possible election.

Do you want to object to someone spewing idiotic ramblings, such as calling Senator Kennedy's expansion of the AmeriCorps "re-education camps for young people", or just let it ride?

Hey, you know that the most powerful way to improve life for Americans is to elect public officials, including members of both the Senate and House of Representatives, who will work for the change we crave. Elwyn Tinklenberg nearly defeated Michele Bachmann in 2008 after her Joseph McCarthy-like statements triggered a last minute flood of contributions to the Democratic candidate. If you think that's the best we can do, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Let's start to create the infrastructure for change now by contributing to the campaign of the Democratic candidate who will replace Michele Bachmann in 2010. A Democratic win in Minnesota's 6th Congressional district will go a long way to clean out the obstructionist forces that are impeding progress in our country. Have them clear out their offices, point their cars toward the freeways leaving Washington, D.C., and just roll on down the highway.
