Sullivan calesullivan@gmail.com McCracken County Circuit Court Clerk Mike Lawrence is the Democratic nominee in the First Legislative District against two-term incumbent Republican State Representative Steven Rudy. As a lifelong representative of the 1st District, I have never seen a representative more lazy, more aloof, more out of touch with his constituents than Steve Rudy. After making many promises to be an active State Representative in his initial 2004 campaign, Rudy has only filed one bill as State Representative; a proposal to allow companies to build nuclear power plants in Kentucky without having a dedicated waste disposal facility. The First District has seen the dangers of deregulation involving nuclear facilities firsthand with the USEC tragedy that has sent hundreds of workers and other citizens living nearby to an early grave. Democrat Mike Lawrence has a lifetime of experience (13 years as McCracken Circuit Clerk, 24 years in the Army Reserves, including two Bronze Stars earned in Vietnam) while Rudy has a lifetime of excuses. Mike will put his experience to use in Frankfort. It's time that the River Counties have a State Representative, not another benchwarmer for Mitch McConnell and the Republican Party of Kentucky. However, defeating Rudy will not be easy. The Republican Party of Kentucky and the House Republican Caucus love the free vote they have in Steven Rudy for their radical agenda and have shown in the past that they will put tens of thousands of dollars into keeping him as State Representative for a part of Kentucky that they do not care about. Whether it be $1, $5, $10, $20, $100 or even $1000, I encourage you to give whatever you can so that Mike can effectively wage his historic campaign to unseat the do-nothing incumbent Steven Rudy and empower Democrats in a critical area of the Commonwealth and elect a State Representative who is responsive to his constituents needs and build our House Democratic majority! public true 0.00 0
