FL-08 (Map)

Alan Grayson is a new progressive leader in the House. A freshman Democrat in a swing district, Grayson was a Better Democrat back in 2008, and he was also an original signer of The Responsible Plan to End the War in Iraq.

Grayson has hired Open Left co-founder, and former BlogPac President, Matt Stoller, to work with him in Congress. Anyone so willing to work with the netroots and help, as Matt said, "solve the rootsgap," is exactly the sort of progressive we need in the House.

No on 1 / Protect Maine Equality

Marriage equality was passed by the Maine state legislature this year, and signed into law by Gov. Baldacci. It's been put to a ballot vote by right-wing hate groups, and will be voted on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009.

We have to stop it from becoming another Prop 8. If the right-wing achieves two high-profile attempts to repeal marriage, it will depress our side's enthusiasm, embloden hate groups to trumpet their success, and pour more money into the campaign to strip LGBT married couples of their rights.

The Catholic Diocese, Focus on the Family, the Mormons, and the Knights of Columbus have already poured in hundreds of thousands of dollars. Your contribution will ensure our side has the resources to compete. Please give to protect LGBT married couples, and deliver a blow to the right-wingers.

Image of Jon Corzine

Jon Corzine

NJ-Gov

Gov. Corzine has consistently been one of the most openly progressive politicians in the country, going back to his term in the Senate. He is one of a few gubernatorial canadidates in recent memory who campaigns on his support of marriage equality and pledge to sign marriage equality legislation while on the stump, even when down in the polls by over a dozen percentage points. Since his election in 2005, he signed legislation to abolish capital punishment, led the effort to make New Jersey first in the nation to enact a loan modification program- and now, New Jersey's rate of foreclosure is half the national average. He signed legislation to chang the regressive funding formula for school taxes so that it's not based on zip codes, expanded state child health insurance eligibility to insure 80,000 more kids, signed LGBT hate crimes and bullying legislation, signed legislation to expand stem cell research, and made New Jersey only the second state to enact paid family leave.

Gov. Corzine is in a very tough off-year race in New Jersey in 2009, an election that recent history tells us the Republicans should win after a Democrat won the Presidential election. But in a year after MIssouri was finally wrong as the bellwether of Presidential elections, we can reverse this trend, too.

He may not be flashy, but he has been a bold progressive first as Senator, and now as Governor. Giving to Jon Corzine for Governor will help ensure another four years to keep getting progressive results in New Jersey.

Image of Joe Sestak

Joe Sestak

PA-Sen (Map)

Primary campaigns have consistently proven to be the best means available for the progressive grassroots to push the Democratic Party to the left, and no example of this is better than Joe Sestak vs. Arlen Specter. as Nate Silver has recently shown, Sestak's potential primary challenge has pushed Specter into the Democratic camp on 97% of all votes, up from only 16% of the time in the month before Specter’s switch.

Among prominent Pennsylvania Democrats, only Representative Joe Sestak has demonstrated a willingness to challenge the Democratic establishment on their choice of Arlen Specter. It takes a lot of courage to do something like that.

Joe Sestak is much more progressive than Arlen Specter according to all voting scorecards from 2007-2009. Further, Representative Sestak is the most hardworking and dedicated campaigner I have ever met. For example, his congressional office handles more than three times as many constituent case files--10,000--than the next highest member of Congress.

This campaign has already demonstrated real results, and has the potential to demonstrate a lot more. Contribute to Joe Sestak today, and make an immediate change in Washington, D.C.

PCCC - Progressive Change Campaign Committee

The PCCC is a vital new piece of progressive infrastructure, run by former MoveOn staff, union organizers, staff from Darcy Burner and Tom Perriello’s 2008 House campaigns, and the co-inventor of RSS and Reddit. It will be expanding it's work very soon to help progressive candidates not just with online strategy, but also field, media, and other elements of a campaign. This will help more progressive candidates run more effective campaigns -- and win!

Giving to the PCCC helps your donations to progressive candidates become more effective. We need this new organization to have the resources they need to start helping progressive candidates early in the 2010 cycle.
