Target campaign contributions to Democratic candidates that: - will support strong policies to curb global warming - will face strong competition in the general election
This is a rematch of the 2006 general election in which Republican candidate Dave Reichert defeated politcal newcomer and former Microsoft executive Darcy Burner by a slim margin of 51.5% to 48.5%. Burner’s strong showing in the face of heavy spending by the National Republican Campaign Committee has earned her substantial support for a second bid in 2008.

Republican incumbent Ralph Regala is widely expected to retire. Through Q2 2007, Boccieri had raised more campaign funds than any other Republican or Democratic candidates in the race. Regala received an 8% score for the 109th Congress from the League of Conservation Voters, leaving his successor lots of room for improvement.

Lampson took the seat formerly held by Tom DeLay, in a historically Republican district that voted 64.4% for Bush in 2004. He is going to have to fight hard to keep it. Lampson is Chair of the Subcommittee on Energy and the Environment (Committee on Science and Technology), which invited Al Gore to testify on Climate Change.
