I only choose to fundraise for candidates right now, that can actually make a serious momentum difference for us as a party. Please help where you can. All of these candidates are now neck and neck with their opponents and they were not supposed to win.
Thanks,
Brad

James Webb

VA-Sen (Map)

James Webb ran the ultimate people-powered primary campaign, winning his primary against his institutionally-backed opponent despite huge disadvantages in fundraising. Virginia bloggers have led the way showing the power of the netroots to create buzz and organization for good candidates, and Webb has not disappointed, quickly catapulting the Virginia Senate race – seen as sleepy just a few months ago – to one of the most interesting and seriously contested in the nation.

Gary Trauner

WY-01 (Map)

This might be the sleeper race of the year. Incumbent Barbara Cubin is deeply unpopular in her home state. She took just 55% of the vote in 2004, far, far behind George Bush’s 69%. On the fundraising front, Trauner actually had more cash-on-hand than Cubin at the end of the second quarter.
And he’s been an extremely aggressive candidate, knocking on literally TEN THOUSAND doors at the most recent count. Keep your eye on this race – we just might shock the country right here in Wyoming.

Image of Jon Tester

Jon Tester

MT-Sen (Map)

Jon Tester beat DLC-favorite John Morrison in a lopsided primary win. He is now facing a very vulnerable Conrad Burns. Burns is embroiled in scandal, but he is an excellent campaigner. Montana is a cheap media market, so dollars here go a long way.

Ned Lamont

CT-Sen (Map)

Businessman and progressive Ned Lamont, who defeated Joe Lieberman in the Democratic primary, is facing him again in the general election this fall. It’s time to let the Republican-backed Lieberman and DLC Democrats all over the country hear that their politics is the politics of the past, and progressive politics is the politics of the future.

Image of Larry Grant

Larry Grant

ID-01 (Map)

Larry Grant is courageously running in one of the deepest-red districts in the nation. But he’s got a lot going for him. For one, Idaho is an incredibly cheap place to do business, so your dollars go along way here. For another, this is an open seat, and, in fact, a Democrat held this district until 1994.
Then there’s Grant’s opponent, Bill Sali, one of the most despised Republicans in the state, including by members of his own party. Indeed, prominent disaffected GOPers have gotten behind the Democrat with a group called “Republicans for Grant.” And, finally, the local netroots scene is positively on fire. See below for more.

Dan Seals

IL-10 (Map)

Seals has lit the local scene on fire and is one of those rare candidates that has widespread local grassroots support as well as great respect from the DCCC. Whether they pour money into this district remains to be seen, but we can help raise the profile of this race and give dedicated, hard-working folks running and volunteering for this campaign a friendly assist.

Image of Linda Stender

Linda Stender

NJ-07 (Map)

Linda Stender is running as a strong progressive against right-wing rich kid Mike Ferguson. NJ-07 is a north-central district that is an economic satellite of New York City and is trending blue. If Stender wins, she’ll be the only woman in the New Jersey delegation, and she’ll also be an outspoken and effective legislator in Congress.

Jay Fawcett

CO-05 (Map)

Jay Fawcett is an Air Force (and Gulf War) vet right in the heart of Air Force territory (the Air Force Academy is in Colorado Springs). This is deep-red Focus on the Family’s James Dobson territory, and Fawcett is vastly outperforming expectations as he pursues this open-seat run.

Image of Larry Kissell

Larry Kissell

NC-08 (Map)

Has trun a brilliant campaign. Go to his web site and check out his Country commercials and his cheap gas stunt.
Larry Kissell is a social studies teacher running as a strong progressive in a district hit hard by unfair trade agreements. His opponent, Robin Hayes, is disliked for promising to vote against CAFTA and then caving in to Republican pressure to vote for it. Kissell is loved by local netroots and progressive activists; he even makes cynical political insiders take a second look.

Image of Patrick Murphy

Patrick Murphy

PA-08 (Map)

Patrick is not only supported by the local netroots scene in Philly, he is a member of the local netroots scene in Philly. He is an Iraq war vet who supports Rep. John Murtha’s withdrawal plan, and a dynamic, young speaker who has the potential for progressive greatness. This is a winnable district, one that both Gore and Kerry won by around 4%, and is backed up by the nation’s strongest local netroots scene. This is also the district where the netroots made history by supporting Ginny Schrader, and where the incumbent, Michael Fitzpatrick, is trying to curb the netroots through federal legislation.

Image of Darcy Burner

Darcy Burner

WA-08 (Map)

Darcy Burner is a strong Democrat running in a district that is trending blue. She is a former Microsoft employee, a graduate of Camp Wellstone, and an exceptionally gifted new politician. The online community in Washington State is strong, and has helped propel her to make this district competitive.
