Mark is mounting a primary challenge against Daniel Lipinski, the Democrat currently representing the 3rd Congressional District. The 3rd District includes several southwestern suburbs and Bridgeport, my newly erstwhile neighborhood.
Lipinski is really a Democrat in name only. He’s consistently supported President Bush on the war, is anti-choice and anti-stem-cell-research, opposes equal rights for gays and immigrants, and is pretty reliably in the pocket of energy and utility companies. Even worse, he was essentially handed the seat by the previous representative: his father Bill. A lot of people don’t even know they’re represented by a new Lipinski now.
