I write to ask for your support in my bid to represent you and our neighbors in the 16th Congressional District in 2006. I believe it’s time for an open mind, new ideas, and a fresh start. I want to use my life experience, education, and professional skills in public service, and I hope you’ll give me the chance to put them to work on your behalf.
I’m asking each and every one of you to join me in the effort to ensure our most fundamental American freedoms, a sound education for our children, health care for every American, the safety of Social Security, and a sound economic future for us all. I ask you to stand with me and defend our most sacred liberties and values – principles we can no longer take for granted.
I recognize the value of family and friends; it is their encouragement and support that have helped me surmount life’s obstacles, and have inspired in me a great passion for fairness, equality, and the welfare of my community. These same passions inspired my decision to run for Congress: I want to use my talents to help ensure that everyone in the 16th Congressional District, regardless of race, gender, religion, economic status, or any other factor has the same opportunity to share the freedoms and values, the benefits and responsibilities, of living in this great country.
