<pageblurb>Doris "Granny D" Haddock (D) became a national figure when, in 1999, at the age of 89, she walked from Pasadena, California to Washington, D.C. to support campaign finance reform. On June 17 she announced her candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat, after Rep. Burt Cohen dropped his challenge to incumbent Sen. Judd Gregg (R).

I first discovered Granny D when I was working on Common Cause's web site back in 1999 and we were mapping her progress as she literally walked across the country to raise awareness of campaign finance reform. Joe Trippi's consulting on her campaign, so you know there must be something good there.</pageblurb>

<pageblurb>The winner of the August 31 Democratic Primary will face the winner of a crowded GOP primary in the campaign for the seat of retiring Sen. Bob Graham (D).

An EMILY's LIST featured candidate with a blog, she definitely seems worth looking into. She's been a state senator, former Education Commissioner, President and CEO of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards, and a university president.

The primary is August 31 -- good luck Betty!!</pageblurb>
