Dear Family and Friends,

As many of you are aware, I am involved with fundraising for the Arlington County Joint Campaign and have set a goal to raise money to support efforts to turn Virginia BLUE in November. Virginia is a battleground state in the upcoming election and Arlington is ground zero in this fight.

In 2006, Arlington County produced a 33,000 vote margin for Jim Webb (72%), more than triple his statewide margin of 9,300 votes, which landed him in the U.S. Senate. In 2008, our goal in Arlington is to increase turnout by 10,000 voters, and to get 80% of the vote for Barack Obama AND Senate candidate Mark Warner!

I know everyone has been asked many times this election cycle to make contributions to various campaigns. However, I am asking for small donations - $5 or $10 to help me reach my goal of $250 - enough to help fund over 4,000 phone calls!

This campaign will likely be won on "get out the vote" (GOTV) operations (i.e. phone banks, canvassing, etc.) that are very effective but for which we need funding. A low dollar donation can go a long way toward ensuring Democrats put forth the best possible GOTV effort in order to deliver Virginia for Barack on Nov. 4!

As we've all seen over the past few weeks, we can take nothing for granted in this election, and we must put all of our efforts into electing Barack Obama, Joe Biden and the rest of the Democratic ticket in 2008! Our country cannot afford anymore Republican leadership and your help will go a long way in making sure Arlington turns Virginia and the White House BLUE!
