Support Creigh Deeds For Governor

Many of my friends in Virginia know I am a strong supporter for Creigh (pronounced "Cree"). Here, in brief, is why:

1. Of all candidates, he will, by far, be the best Governor.

2. Of all the candidates, he is the most progressive who is able to win a statewide election against Bob McDonnell.

3. He is honest and ethical. He believes strongly in economic justice and opportunity for all Virginians.

The fact is that the gubernatorial election in Virginia in 2009 will have national implications. Here in the Old Dominion, we are just electing a Governor for ourselves, and believe me, I wish that were all we were doing. But the fact is that after having their butts kicked in two national elections, the GOP is looking for some payback, and they have targeted Virginia in 2009. They have already said they will throw the kitchen sink at us. McCain has been here. Palin, too. Can Rush be far behind?

While election day is in November, to an extent this race may be determined in June, when we Democrats choose our candidate. Besides Creigh, the other candidates for the nomination are Brian Moran and Terry McAuliffe. Both are good Democrats, good Progressives and good people, and should either win, I'll be supporting them 100%, but in my mind, Creigh is far and away the best candidate with the best chance of victory in November.

Please go to www.bluecommonwealth.com and search for my posts (screen name is "aznew") to learn more about Creigh, or search for posts on Creigh. You will see posts and comments both pro and con. E-mail me at aznew@comcast.net if you want some further information -- I'd be happy to provide it. Creigh's website is www.deedsforvirginia.com.

I strongly support Creigh, but I do not work for his campaign, nor am I a volunteer on his campaign. I write this as a concerned citizen, a lifelong Democrat and someone who considers himself a committed Progressive.

Thanks.
