Another two years of Republican rule is a grim prospect indeed. Please consider making a donation to some fine Democratic candidates, such as the ones listed below. I’m recommending these campaigns because they feature strong candidates in highly competitive races. These are races where your money will make the biggest difference in determining which party controls congress next year.
Just imagine a congressional committee, with a Democratic chair and armed with subpoena power, conducting a serious investigation into the Bush administration’s misdeeds. Now isn’t that quality entertainment that money can’t buy?

Vice-Admiral Joe Sestak is running to unseat unhinged Republican incumbent Curt Weldon. This is a huge strategic pressure point, a very winnable race, a reality-based fighting Dem, and a bonafide crazy, corrupt Republican incumbent. (endorsement lifted from Netroots)

Lois Murphy

PA-06 (Map)

Both Lois and Patrick Murphy (no relation) are both running in districts in the Philly suburbs. In both cases, the districts voted against Bush in 2004, and the Republican incubants barely won their seats. Both PA-08 and 06 are thus prime targets of opportunity.

Patrick Murphy

PA-08 (Map)

You may notice that 4 out of 5 of the candidates I’m recommending are PA House races. Why is that? For two reasons, mainly. First, the House is the more likely of the two chambers to flip Democratic this year. Second, PA in particular has a lot of highly competitive House districts, and also has a statewide Senate and Governor’s race this year. Thus, helping PA House candidates in close races will have a synergistic effects on Democratic efforts to dispose Senator “That Frothy Mix” Santorum and retain control of the Governor’s office.

Running against the uniquely loathesome incumbent Senator Macaca of Virginia. Need we say more?...
...Okay, here’s more: This has recently become a close race (in terms of polling results) thanks to recent evidence establishing his opponent’s extreme racism. However, Webb is currently facing a severe disadvantage in terms of cash on hand, so if you throw him a bit of cash you’ll help him compete in a race where he already has favorable circumstances.
