Rough Riders for Robinson

Dawn. Hot and sultry. I-270 is quiet, only a few plastic tumblebags rolling across the lanes. Two riders survey the dusty roads, quiet towns, houses and corn and bean fields of Ohio’s 12th District.

Rough Rider: They’re out there, Pardner. From Dublin to Delaware to Columbus, all around us. A couple days ride, probably.

Sidekick: Whatta we need to bring’ em in, Boss? Dogs? Cowhands? Posses?

Rough Rider: Heck no, Pard. These ain’t cattle. These are folks who will back DAVID ROBINSON at the November showdown. People who got a mind of their own, people who want change in Congress – a fairer deal and somebody who’ll listen to the people, not just the high falutin’ bankers and such.

Times are changin’, pard. We don’t round ‘em up any more. We invite ‘em in for coffee…

Sidekick: Coffee?? That ain’t the way we used to get ready for Dodge City.

Rough Rider: … and we send ‘em information and they hear David Robinson talk – heck, he’s one strong guy, don’t even need a six-gun to get his points across. They get real interested and they saddle up their own horses. Lots of folks are already out there riding for Robinson.

Sidekick: I hear Pat Tiberi is a tough guy.

Rough Rider: Aw, he’s asleep with his head on a bag of gold coins. But we don’t want decisions made by tossin’ gold coins. We want decisions that’re good, and tough when they have to be, and that take everybody into account. That’s a job for DAVID ROBINSON, and he’ll do it right.

Sidekick: OK, Boss, my horse is gettin’ restless. When do we get started?

Rough Rider: You take this here email and ride off and give it to five folks you know and tell ‘em to give it to five more folks.

Tell ‘em straight up: Robinson’s gotta have a GRUBSTAKE! Can’t do the job runnin’ on air. Ask those folks to send it on up. Don’t need beans or bacon – just a twenty, a thirty or a hundred dollar bill, whatever they can afford. They can do it right here on this site. And give 'em a big thank-you.

Sidekick: Anything else you want me to tell these folks?

Rough Rider: Yeah: "Be a Rough Rider for Robinson and send it right away. We only got till sundown Friday." Now git going!
