Prop 8 &quot;eliminates the right of same sex couples to marry.&quot; </strong><br /><br /> Besides the importance of having the right to be legally recognized in the same manner as heterosexuals, this Proposition is a fight for the equality of Gays and Lesbians as a whole. For those of you who know me, you probably realize I have struggled on coming to terms with being gay. This isn&#39;t because of some internal self loathing at birth, but a direct result of the attitude and stigma held by a great majority about people like me. If you are on the fence or haven&#39;t put much thought to the issue, I urge you to reconsider, look at the bigger picture, and think about people like me. Would you be afraid for your children to meet me and know that I might have a &#39;boyfriend&#39; or &#39;husband&#39;? Would this turn your child gay or corrupt them in some other way? Can children be sheltered in a bubble and kept from knowing that gay people do exist? Would anyone choose to be openly gay and endure the difficulty I (or so many others) have? <br /><br />For those of you who may think it is simply about gays wanting to be able to get married and are creating a big fuss over something so trivial, something that so many heterosexuals take for granted, please take a moment to think of the bigger picture. It IS bigger.
