Edwards for President

Hello Everyone,
Before getting started, I want to thank you all very much for responding to my email and signing into my ActBlue webpage. I am very excited for the presidential campaign ahead and for Senator Edwards to occupy the White House. It will be a long year of campaigning, volunteer work, and donations before we know of our party’s nomination, however, we should start early and win strong! If you haven’t chosen your candidate yet, and even if you have, I would like to ask for a little of your time to illustrate why it is that I have chosen to support John Edwards as my Presidential candidate.
• John Edwards is the only labor friendly candidate! In 2005 and 2006 Edwards traveled throughout the country supporting “Raise It” along with individual state minimum wage initiatives. Labor friendly candidates are important to me because I was born into a strong labor family dating back four generations: my great Grandfather and his brother were both members of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters as truck drivers; my Grandfather served 20 years and retired as Secretary Treasure of the Meat Cutters Union in Washington and north Idaho; my father was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters while my mother was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union; and finally, both my brother and I have belonged to the UFCW and the Teamsters. I support John Edwards because he will represent my family and labor families in the White House. We should all take time to respect and support labor unions, for they invented the 8 hour work day and the weekend
• John Edwards believes it is our moral obligation, as the wealthiest nation in the world, to provide health care to all through universal health care. Health costs are rising and more people every year are refused vital medical treatment due to lack of health coverage. Seniors, because of Medicare-D, are forced to choose between food and life sustaining prescription drugs. We should be leading the world in providing innovative ways to secure a strong and healthy society, not dragging our feet concerning the issue.
Those two positions alone, although there are many more, are compelling enough to garner my support for John Edwards. If you believe in fair employment practices and providing health care for those of us who need it, please stand with me to support and contribute to John Edwards Campaign for President.
