Bernie Sanders is a Congressman running for the Senate seat to be vacated by Jim Jeffords in Vermont, for which he has been endorsed by Senator Chuck Schumer. He is very concerned about the inequality of income in the US, where since 1996 the top 1 percent has collected more income than the bottom 100 million Americans. He has led the fight in Congress to lower the cost of prescription drugs and has fought the Administration and the pharmaceutical companies on this issue. He has steadfastly opposed media consolidation and the media’s concern with profit rather than the public interest.
