A personal appeal for a better Mississippi

In 2006, with your help, I secured the Democratic nomination for the US Senate in Mississippi. With only $43,000, this campaign for a better Mississippi won eighteen counties and garnered 35 percent of the vote against Trent Lott.

Now, I am seeking the Senate seat held by Thad Cochran. The stakes are so high in this election, especially for the citizens of Mississippi. They deserve a Senator that will continue the fight for better wages and job opportunities. They deserve a Senator that will work tirelessly to make health care and housing affordable. They deserve a Senator that will offer hope instead of playing on their fears. In these challenging times, every state needs a real leader instead of a partisan cheerleader serving in the United States Senate, and Mississippi is no exception.

The citizens of Mississippi on March 11, 2008 gave me 66 percent of the vote to again carry the banner as the Democratic nominee. Now I need your help to win this seat back for the Democrats and send someone to Washington who truly wants to serve his state and his nation.
