<pageblurb>Jan was Katherine Harris' nemesis in the 2004 race for Florida's 13th Congressional District seat. Jan Schneider held Harris to the smallest margin of any U.S. House of Representatives election in the entire State of Florida. Despite being outspent by millions of dollars, Jan garnered 45% of the vote. In 2006, our former Florida Secretary of State has bowed out of the House race to challenge Democratic Senator Bill Nelson.
On the basis of name recognition, qualifications for the job, background and independent thinking, Jan has the best chance of capturing the open seat in the Florida 13th Congressional District. While Schneider is a life-long Democrat, she is decidedly not a made-to-order, wind-up Party Animal Democrat, nor could she ever be thought of as Katherine Harris Lite !

In the 2004 generals, Jan was honored to be included in the Koz Dozen as well as listed in Atrios, Echaton, TrueMajority Action PAC, The Majority Report and others.

Jan Schneider is a straight-shooting Yale-educated lawyer with a Ph.D. in political science from Yale. Schneider has three decades of experience as a practicing lawyer, educator and author. She also has a 30-year history of fighting for progressive public interest causes, particularly in the areas of environmental protection, women's rights, the arts and public housing.

Among other things, Schneider is the author of two books and dozens of articles on environmental protection, and she currently provides pro bono legal services to residents of Sarasota public housing projects. Jan has, by far, the name recognition, qualifications, experience and strength on the issues.
</pageblurb>
