IL-11 (Map)

Democratic challenger John Pavich is running against incumbent Jerry Weller in the 11th district of Illinois, in the far southern suburbs of Chicago.
John Pavich is a bright, articulate, energetic young candidate. He’s already outworking Jerry Weller, and he has the biography and intellect to match his work ethic. He worked on the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, helping negotiate Slobodan Milosevic’s guilty plea, and has served for two years in a CIA counter terrorism unit.
John’s campaign is taking off, and the press in the district has taken notice. A recent poll commissioned by the campaign showed that when voters are informed about the two candidates, Pavich leads Weller by 51-36. In other words, if John has enough money to get his message out, this race is almost a guaranteed winner! That’s where we come in: can you help chip to make sure the 11th turns blue in November?
The 11th is a swing district, won by Clinton in 1992 and 1996 and by Gore in 2000. Democrats as well as Republicans have represented this district in Congress. Weller won this office in the 1994 Republican landslide.
Weller’s time in Congress has been marked by missed opportunities. In spite of the fact that the 11th district contains six nuclear reactors, he has done little to secure government funding to safeguard them. He has frustrated constituents by failing to take a leadership role in the planning and development of the proposed international airport that will be located in his district.
In other words, now is the time that this Republican can be beaten.
John is a committed, intelligent, and serious candidate, and with our help, he’ll unseat Jerry Weller and move us one seat closer to taking back the House.
