The Republicans are having one of their <a href="http://www.alternet.org/media/66062">patented hissy fits</a> because Alan Grayson said that the Republican Health Care Plan is to "not get sick" and "die quickly." The party that has been claiming the Democrats are planning <i>death panels</i> is actually insisting that he apologize to them. And <a href="http://blogs.abcnews.com/george/2009/09/why-is-this-necessary.html"> George Stephanopoulos</a> agrees!
Earlier this year Republican Representative Virginia Foxx said on the House Floor that the Democrats had a plan to "<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hea-4VJZXRE">put seniors to death by their government</a>" and the mainstream press didn't say they deserved an apology. <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltOsuTJFGDU">Republican Representative Ginny Browne-Waite said</a> the Democratic healthcare plan "essentially tells seniors to drop dead" and nobody sanctioned her. Why should Grayson be singled out for telling the truth when their lies were deemed perfectly acceptable?
Grayson is being targeted by the Republicans and the mainstream press because he isn't afraid to tell it like it is. They hope to silence him and defeat him in the next election. You can let him know you have his back by donating to his reelection fund today.
Grayson has put up a spirited and successful defense against the GOP-- and corporate media-- onslaught that followed his original remarks. Thursday he was on MSNBC pointing out that the Republicans have <a href="http://tinyurl.com/ybfph4n">not been good faith players</a> in the health care debate. "America is sick of you, Republican Party; you're a lie factory, that's all you do... Why don't you work together with the Democrats to solve America's problems instead of making stuff up?"
