California is at a major turning point environmentally. The policies of AB32 – the global warming bill—will need to be implemented and without strong environmentalists in Sacramento the full intent of this law will not be realized.
Bob Blumenfield has been an active member of the environmental movement for more than twenty years. He is endorsed by the California League of Conservation Voters.
He is a Board member (on leave of absence during the campaign) of the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters, has worked for Clean Water Action, has served as the Director of Government Affairs for the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and has written and promoted key environmental laws as Congressman Berman’s former Legislative Director and current District Director.
He is responsible for creating urban parks, preserving thousands of acres
of open space, helping save the William O. Douglass Outdoor Classroom, securing funding for environmentally cutting edge parking lots (Tree People and Hansen Dam), conceiving and funding a soon to be built environmental camp for at-risk youth, securing funding for environmental restoration (i.e. Tujunga Wash, Pacoima Wash, Sun Valley) drafting legislation to remove tariffs and create incentives for re-usable plastic bags and much, much more. It is rare to find someone who not only cares so deeply about the environment, but has the legislative experience and know-how to make a difference in Sacramento. His vision for California includes energy independence, public transit, green technology investments and environmental justice.
