On Sunday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m., two premier Maine a cappella ensembles team up to present a concert to benefit Protect Maine Equality, the organization campaining for NO on 1 to preserve same sex marraige in Maine. The concert will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick at 15 Pleasant St.
ImproVox - 'Artists in Resonance' is five professional performers presenting songs of international, American and original roots, and features intricate and fascinating songs to be invented on the spot - utilizing words, ideas and often the voices of the present audience. ImproVox promises a stimulating musical experience which will inspire and invigorate your sense of what singing CAN be.
From as far north as Belgrade south to the Portland area, the eleven women of Zemya blend beautiful and edgy harmonies without accompaniment. They share folk and traditional songs from the Balkans, United Kingdom, Africa, the Americas and more… and they have fun doing it! Zemya means “earth” in Bulgarian, and these songs grow from the deep soul of the world’s folk music heritage.
