Dear friends and family,
I am writing to let you know that in 2008, my father in law Larry Byrnes is running for Congress in the 14th Congressional District of Southwest Florida.
I kindly ask you to consider supporting him.
In 44 years as an educator, including nearly a decade as a Dean and Professor at Florida Gulf Coast University, Larry has worked to ensure that all children receive a quality education. Larry has helped train thousands of teachers for the classroom and, through business-education partnerships and the innovative use of technology, has developed creative and internationally recognized programs to help our children succeed in school and life.
As the son of working class parents who worked to put himself through college, Larry understands the importance to our families of having good jobs at good wages. Larry supports economic incentives for companies who innovate, promote sustainable development, and keep those good jobs here at home.
I am especially excited that Larry’s key issue is sustainable development. Larry believes that protecting the environment and promoting economic growth and our quality of life go hand in hand. He supports keeping our water and air clean, and protecting our public lands from misuse. Larry is also committed to helping America’s innovators develop clean technology and alternative fuels.
On a personal note, Larry is one of the most socially-conscious people I know. He cares deeply about children, our community, and our most vulnerable citizens. Larry has the gift of getting along with anyone, finding solutions to problems, and collaborating with those who differ from him. Larry is both brilliant and humble, compassionate yet pragmatic, decisive yet open minded. He takes issues seriously, yet has a great sense of humor while addressing real problems. I fully trust that he will make Congress a better place, where we can regain our faith our government.
