John Quinlan john_l_quinlan@yahoo.com <p>Peng Her is the real thing--someone whose diverse life experience as a community activist, business leader, and family man makes him uniquely qualified to represent north Madison and northwestern Dane County in the State Assembly. </p> <p> I&#39;ve been proud to call him a good friend for many years, and to work with him as a colleague on such issues as civil rights, affordable housing, educational reform, LGBT family rights, open government, small business promotion, and neighborhood organizing. </p> <p>His groundbreaking candidacy means that he could make history as Wisconsin&#39;s first Hmong legislator, and he draws deeply on the cultural strengths of that community, and the perseverance and hard work that are part of America&#39;s proudest immigrant traditions. Like Tammy Baldwin, Gwen Moore, and other groundbreaking candidates for state and federal office who have come before him, however, he&#39;s the whole package--someone who brings a voice to the voiceless, but who also has a long and varied history of effectiveness in working within the system as a community leader, bridgebuilder, and diplomat. </p> <p><b>I&#39;m writing to ask you to use the contribution link above to financially support Peng&#39;s inspiring and groundbreaking candidacy. </b> He&#39;s in a highly competitive six way primary race, and needs this support to get his important message of change out to the voters.
