George Mays is strong on our Constitutional rights (more detail forthcoming, but you can visit his website today).
I emailed Mays about his stance on reproductive rights. I found his answer to be adequate, as he understands that abortion rates are not reduced by outlawing the procedure. So that others may come to their own conclusions, I’ve reprinted Mays’s reply here:
“About Roe v. Wade: I do not think a Constitutional Amendment would solve anything, nor would I vote for one. Putting more people at risk and in prison is not the answer.
That being said, I consider myself pro-life. I will work with pro-life Dems who believe the best way to diminish abortion is to insure families and women can financially afford to bring children to term and to raise or place them for adoption.
This approach has reduced yearly abortion rates by 1/2 million from its high to present figures.”
