They just couldn’t help themselves.
We’ve all known that Gordon Smith and his cronies at the Republican National Committee would try to stop me in the primary. Well, here they come.
The national Republicans have launched a website attacking me. In fact, the website says, “Help Us Beat Jeff Merkley.” Are they scared or what?
I need you to help me fight back by making a contribution to my campaign. Your contribution will help me defeat the Republican slime machine and bring change to the U.S. Senate.
I’ve made a career of taking on the powerful special interests and winning – the type of special interests who are now funding Gordon Smith’s campaign. For years, they’ve tried and failed to stop me from winning the tough fights for working people. With your help we’ll beat them again.
It’s the first quarter and Gordon Smith has already dusted off the Karl Rove playbook. Gordon Smith and George Bush are spreading the same old, tired, false accusations we’ve heard for eight long years-Merkley will raise your taxes, blah, blah, blah. This is the bogey man Gordon Smith and the Republicans go to every time they are worried about losing an election. It won’t work.
George Bush likes to say “Bring it on”. Right back at you, George.
If they want to attack me for closing tax loopholes that let corporations ship family wage jobs overseas – I say bring it on.
If they want to attack me for standing up to the Republicans and blocking new tax give-a-ways for the ultra-rich and big corporations – I say bring it on.
If they want to attack me for fighting for middle class tax relief and restoring fiscal responsibility – I say bring it on.
This new Republican attack website is just the beginning. We can send a message to Gordon Smith that this time the tired, old Republican strategy of attack and smear is going to fail. Make a donation today.
