Ken served for three years on the local School Board, fourteen years in the Missouri House of Representatives and eight years in the Missouri Senate. After demonstrating his leadership abilities, Ken&rsquo;s colleagues chose him to be the Democratic Leader of the Missouri Senate. In this position, Ken stood for days, sometimes talking for more than 15 hours, to prevent the GOP from eliminating the health care benefits of 100,000 Missourians. Ken <strong>led the charge</strong> to end the sales tax on food. He fought hard to create the Missouri College Guarantee Program and authored the Bright Flight Scholarship Program; both initiatives helped make college more affordable for Missouri families. Ken, a native of Missouri, attended college at the University of Missouri-Columbia and started his family in Boone County. Ken has been married to his wife, Nancy, for more than 25 years. He is also the proud father of Daniel and Jessica.
