As a fellow activist, I do not have to tell you how important grassroots organizing is, nor do I have to ask about your commitment to local grassroots organizing.
What I do have to tell you is what our county committee needs, if we are truly going to support our legislative candidates. Our challenge in 2008 will be to refocus attention on our Maine House and Senate candidates and make sure they’re not lost in the glow coming from everyone’s television sets as they watch the presidential campaign unfold.
I’m proud of the efforts of our volunteers. I’m also aware that, in politics, hard work is sometimes just not enough. My wish list includes a campaign office with multiple computers and phone lines, at least one paid staff person, money for mailings and community-building events, and, perhaps the most important thing on my list, more effective training for our newer candidates.
The volunteers of the Kennebec County Democratic Committee have donated thousands of hours to support those running for office. I am asking you to support us in getting good Democrats elected. Without your help we can never reach our full potential.

Contributions can also be mailed directly to us at 82 Willow Street, Apt. 7, Augusta, ME 04330.
