Patrick Murphy

Patrick Murphy, the son of a Philadelphia Police officer and a legal secretary, was born and raised in northeast Philadelphia. After a military career that included service with the elite 82nd Airborne Division in Baghdad, Patrick became the first and so far only Iraq War veteran elected to Congress, winning by only 0.6% in a district with less than 40% Democratic registration. As a Congressman, Patrick has been a leader in the effort to change course in Iraq.

Jon Powers

While leading his soldiers through some of Baghdad’s most volatile sectors, Jon Powers witnessed firsthand the devastation and lost opportunities that have resulted from George Bush’s mismanagement and lack of planning for a post-invasion Iraq. Today Jon sees the same kind of mismanagement in NY’s 26th Congressional District, a region ready for change after years of failed leadership under Tom Reynolds, one ofthe Bush Administration’s mostardent supporters.

Charlie Brown

Lt. Col. Ret. Charlie Brown is a 26 year Air Force veteran. He began his service flying rescue helicopters in Vietnam, where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, and served in every major military conflict through Desert Storm. His son, Jeff, has served four rotations in Iraq for the U.S. Air Force. Charlie narrowly lost last cycle to Rep. John Doolittle and is back in the fight this cycle trying to oust one of the most corrupt GOP Congressman from a very red district.

Joseph Sestak Jr

Former Vice-Admiral, successfully ran for Congress last year, after completing 31 year military service. Commanded the George Washington carrier battle group (30 U.S./allied ships, 100 aircraft, and over 15,000 sailors/marines) that conducted combat operations in Afghanistan and Iraq. Served as President Clinton’s Director of Defense Policy at the White House. After 9/11, became the first Director of “Deep Blue”, the Navy’s anti-terrorism unit. Graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy; earned a Ph.D. from Harvard University. Joe is one of the leading national figures for the Democrats on the debate of the war in Iraq, and safely redeploying our troops for the better, overall security of America.
