The District has not had a competitive race in literally 50 years (Mike has served 20 years in Congress, and his predecessor, Sam Stratton, served for 30), and so we have an opportunity to elect a Congressman who can bring real change to our broken system in Washington -- Phil Steck. I have been working on Phil’s campaign since he announced back in December. Since then, I’ve become even more convinced that he is the right person for the job, and that he will represent New York’s 21 Congressional District with diligence and honor. Phil will work for the people of the District, as opposed to special interests that have unfortunately hijacked our government. Phil is right on the issues that matter to us; his heart is in the right place; and he works really hard – he deserves to win. And the campaign is going quite well – we secured our place on the primary ballot by submitting four times the number of signatures required; we have the endorsement of over 50 local officials and progressive groups; and we have a solid group of supporters in the field. But, of course, campaigns of this magnitude take a great deal of money to get our message out, and that’s why I’m turning to you for help. When he gets to Congress, Phil will put his progressive values to work for the people, instead of the powerful. He deserves our support, and this is a race where your dollars can make the difference.
