The ability to choose our leaders and what role government has in our lives is exactly what has set our great country apart from others for more than 200 years. This past weekend the leaders of the Kansas Republican Party decided that wasn’t good enough for them.
They created a “Loyalty Committee.” Any Republicans found to be supporting one of your Kansas Democrats would be stripped of their titles and positions in the party. And if you don’t like whom they’ve picked? “If you can’t stomach a Republican in the election, then you can sit on your hands.” At least that’s what GOP Executive Director Morgan suggested to the Lawrence Journal-World.
Democracy is about action. If you don’t like what the government is doing, you work to change it. Kansans were tired of not being able to get affordable health care for their children, of seeing our public schools threatened, and having an economy that leaves them behind.
In 2006, we didn’t sit on our hands, we worked to elect candidates who wanted to see real change too. Kathleen Sebelius, Mark Parkinson, Dennis Moore, Nancy Boyda, and Paul Morrision are all working on common sense solutions for Kansans.
Refuse to be someone who does nothing when presented with choices you don’t like. Make a contribution of $25, $50, or $100 to the Kansas Democratic Party now.
