<pageblurb>Lew Katz is running in the 14th Congressional District, which was redistricted to favor Republicans. The district, however, is on the verge of turning Democrat. First, the scandals in Ohio assiocated with the Republican leadership creates an atmosphere of change. Second, the incumbent, "Silent Steve" Latourette, as Lew Katz has dubbed him, is married to Washington and has been tied to the Abramoff scandal.

After promising his constituents that he would not vote for CAFTA, Silent Steve was the deciding vote when he voted in favor of CAFTA in return for a $300,000 fundraising dinner. The CAFTA vote is essentially funding Silent Steve's 2006 campaign. He blatantly lied to his constituents to serve his own interest. Read an article on it here: http://www.cleveland.com/news/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/news/1127295023122460.xml&coll=2

Even more telling about Silent Steve's disrespect for his constituents was his comment after voting in favor of cutting funding for Family and Child Services and students, once again after promising not to do so. Latourette said that the people in Chardon, Ohio would not notice his flip flop because they were "covered in snow." Latourette was the deciding vote that kept the bill alive and which was later passed. Hear his comment: http://www.wcpn.org/news/2005/10_12/1118cnc.html.

It is time for a change in the 14th district. </pageblurb>
