We came very close in 2006 to doing the impossible: beating Mike Ferguson and taking away an automatic yes vote for George Bush and his failed policies. I am pursuing another run for Congress in 2008 because it is too important a time to sit on the sidelines. We need real leadership to restore honor and integrity to our government.
With the backing of the netroots, grassroots, and establishment Democrats, we were able to challenge Mike Ferguson in ways no other opponent had been able to. We were just 1% away from defeating Ferguson and his right-wing agenda. We raised nearly $2 million to get our message out. We were able to compete with Ferguson on cable, radio and broadcast television. We won Republican strongholds and helped Democrats win town council seats that had been solidly Republican for years.
Even with our success, we were outspent by more than $1 million dollars. We can not let that happen again!
