Fill in the amount in the box above, up to a maximum of $2400 per individual for the primary, and $2400 for the general election. Every dollar helps!

For the past 22 years, our congressional district has been represented by Lamar Smith. With all his time on Capitol Hill, what has he managed to do?

He’s voted his party line, which means he has voted no to children, no to women, no to veterans, no to teachers, policemen and firefighters, no to seniors, no to renewable energy, no to the environment, and no to health care reform. If saying no is the only thing Lamar Smith has learned how to do since 1986, then…isn’t it time we take action and say “no” to Lamar Smith?

For the last 22 years the only real policy Lamar Smith has put in action is inaction. The time has come for someone to represent our community who will take action, someone who will fight for your interests rather than the special interests, and someone who will wear out the soles of her shoes—not the seat cushion of her chair. That is precisely what Lainey Melnick will do as your representative.

In those same 22 years, she opened 4 businesses; she worked in executive positions with 4 high-tech companies; she lived in 4 states; she gave birth to and raised 4 children; she became a grandmother; and she played a lead role in the Hillary and Obama Central Texas campaigns and became the Regional Lead for Organizing for America. Simply put, she has made a career out of taking action.

If you’re tired of the failed policies of Lamar Smith, and if you have a vision for a better tomorrow, then join Lainey Melnick, in taking action to win in 2010! Contribute Now!

Endorsed by good people like State Senator Leticia van de Putte, Texas House Reps Donna Howard, Mark Strama and Elliot Naishtat, 6 Democratic County Chairs, 1972 VP nominee Sissy Farenthold, Grammy-Award winner Ruben Ramos, environmentalist Robin Rather, activist Ruth Epstein, and over 200 other influential Texans.

Together, we all see that Lamar Smith’s policies favor the few and hurt the many—and this year, it’s finally going to catch up to him!

"Lainey's experience in the business world compliments her commitment to bring new, green jobs into our economy. She understands that what's good for the environment is good for the economy." Mayor Lee Leffingwell

"Lainey understands the urgent need for healthcare reform and is already bringing people together to work toward real solutions." Julie Byers, RN

"As a mother and political organizer, Lainey understands the importance of cooperation and community. As a business owner, she has the professionalism and effectiveness to implement the high ideals of her community." Starshine Nolan, Former Obama for America Field Organizer

"Lainey's dedication and determination are equally matched by her ability to get the job done." Jacqueline Hook, owner of Jaya

"This "Yes we can" attitude is so fundamentally important for progress. Our lawmakers need to know when to recognize and encourage important ideas, no matter where they might come from. Lainey is a great community organizer and I'm proud to recommend her to advocate for Texas." John Woods, UT Student
