Mark Pera’s incumbent primary opponent, Dan Lipinski, is a Bush Dog Democrat and Democrat in Name Only in an overwhelmingly Democratic district. This year Lipinski voted for the Iraq supplemental without a withdrawal timetable and against the McGovern withdrawal bill. He was one of only 13 Democrats representing Democratic districts to vote against the McGovern bill, and the only one in Illinois.
