With just three weeks to go before election day, Ashwin Madia is running a superb campaign focused on critical issues like the financial crisis, a prompt but responsible withdrawal from Iraq, and restoration of civil liberties in our counter-terrorism efforts. And he also has great ideas about our long-term challenges such as responding to climate change, balancing the federal budget, and building a 21st century education system. I got to know Ashwin as a classmate at NYU Law School. We bonded over our shared familiarity with Minnesota ((him because of his roots here and me from going to college in Minnesota). He was smart, articulate, and principled—and will be the same as a candidate and a congressman. His impressive background as a son of immigrants and an Iraq veteran (he served there in the Marine JAG Corps) give him appeal as a candidate and will make him effective in Washington.

Recent polls show Ashwin ahead by just a few percentage points. He has a strong grass-roots organization, several TV advertisements, and favorable coverage in the local and national media. We are so close to taking over this previously Republican seat! But our opponent is raising lots of corporate money, and we need to respond with individual contributions from ordinary voters like you and me.

This is a key race to grow the Democratic majority in Congress and give us the margin we need to further our agenda. Please contribute what you can!
