Proposition 8 will eliminate the right of same sex couples to marry in California.

Regardless of how you feel about marriage for same-sex couples, it is wrong to take away a fundamental right from a group of people like this.

I cannot overstate this: the outcome of the Proposition 8 battle in California will change the lives of LGBT people all over the country. The stakes could not be higher - this is not just about marriage, but about whether right-wing forces can push back all of our civil rights by pouring literally millions of dollars into ballot initiatives like Prop 8.

You probably know that I have been working hard on this issue for two years now, and that I care deeply about fairness and equality for LGBT people. Please join me in defending the notion that LGBT people deserve equal dignity and respect.
