I believe a strong candidate, as is former Governor Ronnie Musgrove, with high name recognition and a solid record of achievement can win this Senate seat if provided the financial support necessary. Governor Musgrove has already proven his ability to win statewide and has high name recognition and positive ID in the State. In fact, he has a solid lead over Wicker in a recent statewide poll.
Moreover, there are profound differences between Governor Musgrove and Acting Senator Wicker on areas such as education, children’s health (e.g., Governor Musgrove strongly support enactment of the reauthorization of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program and Acting Senator Wicker voted repeatedly against it). The public will side with Musgrove on these issues if he has the resources he needs to bring this to their attention.
