We'll soon get back to raising money for Nebraska candidates but first must ask you to join us supporting our partners at BlogPAC, whose vision for a 50 State Blog Network has made our continued growth and success possible.

*********************

Nebraska's premiere source for progressive online political commentary, the New Nebraska Network, encourages readers to dedicate what financial resources (and volunteer hours) they can to these deserving candidates who offer the best immediate hope of turning the tide in Nebraska politics.

These are candidates with strong, progressive voices, running in races where your contribution could make a real difference for our state. Please give generously.

In 2008, Lincoln voters not only voted for Barack Obama as President but also Scott Kleeb for U.S. Senate. The city has also had a Democratic mayor for the last decade. With three at-large city council races and a number of other local seats up for grabs in spring of 2009, a contribution to the Lancaster County Democrats will go a long ways towards building upon these successes in Nebraska's capital city.

Will Sen. Ben Nelson run for re-election to a third term in 2012? Despite his conservative leanings, we'd better hope so. The race is still a few years off, but right now there are no other Democratic candidates readily positioned or prepared for the mammoth challenge that holding this seat would entail.

By virtue of his title, Nelson remains the de facto head of the Nebraska Democratic Party. Through this PAC, he's done considerable good for local candidates and political committees - including those with significantly more progressive positions than his own.

**A President For One America**

The first Democratic presidential nominee to fight for Nebraskans’ votes in decades, Barack Obama has a real shot at winning the 2nd Congressional District. Obama won our presidential caucus for a reason: he was and remains the candidate who offers the most promise of overcoming the politics of division that have too long prevailed across our state and our country.

In paving the way to a new Nebraska, there is nothing more essential than Obama winning the presidency this November. We can be a part of that change. With all of us giving what we are able, we can even lead the way.
