  <title>New Mexico FBIHOP - Paint NM Blue</title>

<blurb>Democrats control both the State House and Senate in New Mexico. Our governor, who was re-elected with nearly 70% of the vote, is a Democrat. Only one Republican won a statewide election in November of 2006.

And in the turmoil that came after Pete Domenici&amp;#39;s retirement, now is the time to paint New Mexico Blue. All three Representatives are running for the open Senate seat, with Democrat Tom Udall as the front-runner.

The First Congressional District seat has never been held by a Democrat despite having more Democrats than Republicans in the district; 2008 is the year we can change this.

The Second Congressional District is extremely conservative, but Democrats have a good candidate running; an underfunded and over matched opponent managed 40% of the vote in 2006, and 2008 should be an even stronger year for Democrats.

The Third Congressional District seat should be safe for Democrats, but the last time there was an open-election, a Republican snuck through, and we can&amp;#39;t let that happen again.

<pageblurb>Tom Udall is facing far-right conservative Steve Pearce in the primary election in November. Pearce will surely get hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of help from special interest groups, so let&amp;apos;s blunt that number.

Udall has served as U.S. Rep. for the 3rd Congressional District in NM for nearly a decade. Before that, he was a two-term state Attorney General.</pageblurb>

<pageblurb>This seat is now open thanks to Republican Heather Wilson running for Senate. The progressive voice in the race is former Albuquerque City Councilor Martin Heinrich. Heinrich entered the race even before Wilson abandoned the race for the open Senate seat.

This young, progressive Democrat can be the one to defeat the Bush-friendly Republican Darren White in the general election. </pageblurb>

<pageblurb>Harry Teague will face restaurant-owner Ed Tinsley in November. Teague will face an uphill battle in the Second Congressional district, but he has a legitimate shot at turning this seat blue.

For southern New Mexico, it would be way past time.</pageblurb>

<pageblurb>Ben Ray Lujan is a young progressive Democrat serving in a Democrat-safe seat. But let&amp;apos;s still show our love for him, as he has a Republican opponent in November: Dan East.
