With Jeff Merkley’s solid history of supporting nurses as they advocate for their patients at all levels, from the bedside to the Oregon State Legislature, I know that he will support a vision of healthcare reform that starts with the patient. He listens to nurses, therefor he understands that nurses’ needs are patients’ needs.
He is one of the few non-nurse legislators I have met that can articulate healthcare from the nursing perspective. Plus, he is one of, if not the most genuine, honest, and truly good people that exists in the political world.
