It’s time for a change in Pierre. For too long we’ve operated under a de facto one party system that has not served the interests of South Dakotans.

Seven of the last eight State budgets have spent more than we’ve taken in. Since 2005, state spending has grown by 32% fueled by the addition of 1,500 new state jobs since 2003.

In the last session, the legislature gave a $38 million dollar tax break to a foreign oil company while failing to support education. It's time for a new set of priorities in the State House.

It’s time for true fiscal conservatism in Pierre. We need to eliminate no bid contracts, phantom FTE's (positions in state government that are budgeted for but never filled), reduce the state aircraft fleet, and limit legislative travel.

Doing these things will help us dig out of the hole our legislature has put us in and free up the money to fund the things that are truly important such as education and alternative energy development.
