I’m committed to charting a different course for Illinois, a new way that is effective, ethical, and equitable for the 18th District and all our citizens. I'll champion real solutions, I'm not afraid to challenge what's broken in Springfield, and I have the hands-on experience it takes to get things done. Our state now faces serious challenges – entrenched interests and a lack of accountability have stood in the way of real reform. I’ve set down roots in this independent, engaged and progressive community. I serve on the boards of the United Way, the League of Women Voters, the Sheil Catholic Center, the Democratic Party of Evanston, and the New Trier Democratic Organization. I’ve worked hard on the campaigns of many local progressive candidates, including Jan Schakowsky, Julie Hamos, Dan Seals and Larry Suffredin. I am an experienced advocate for change. My work for public interest organizations has given me the critical know-how necessary to work with legislators, district residents, and community and advocacy organizations to fix what’s broken in Springfield. Together, in the 18th District, we can chart a New Way. We can create a health care system that is efficient, accessible and affordable. We can protect our communities from predatory lenders who operate virtually unchecked. We can ensure that our government is accountable to us, the citizens, rather than to special interests and big money. We're building a grassroots campaign, person-to-person and door to door. We'll be connecting with other residents of the 18th District, listening to their opinions and concerns, and speaking to them about our vision for a New Way in Illinois politics.
