John Edwards Will Be A Fantastic President

by Doug Kent

Edwards is running a courageous campaign, unlike Clinton and Obama who calculate and triangulate on every issue, running cowardly watered-down and disengenuous campaigns such as Gore and Kerry did and lost.
Edwards is not afraid to speak truth to power and join a fight. Equally important is that he is smart and capable enough to win those fights. And he is showing up strong in polls head-to-head against Republican candidates.
Edwards is showing great leadership and competence, proposing detailed policies on major issues long before the other candidates have done so.
The media is doing their usual act of writing simplistic stories involving a minimum number of characters. Clinton and Obama are two colorful characters the media could not resist casting for their stories. Thus those two characters, whose stories sell the most advertising for the media, are pre-defined by the media as the front runners. The story line is self-fulfilling.
Please help prevent the media from warping and controlling the political process—its the same process that helped us get into the Iraq War!
Have you ever seen one of John Edwards’ speeches? Check one out on C-Span! Edwards is smart, articulate and inspiring. Sound bites really don’t do him justice.
Here is a clip of a speech Edwards recently gave on how important it is that we be able to trust our president: johnedwards.com/watch/the-choice. This is not an example of one of his inspiring stem-winders, rather it is quietly thoughtful and moving.
Here is something about health care that really touches your heart when Elizabeth Edwards goes out and hugs someone: johnedwards.com/watch/portsmouth.
