Dear Fellow Princetonian,
We aspire to live by Woodrow Wilson’s ideal: “Princeton in the nation’s service.” Embodying that motto, our classmate and friend, Jared Schutz Polis ‘96, just made an important trip to Iraq. Jared is running for a seat in the United States Congress from his hometown of Boulder, Colorado. Tiger support in September made a real difference in his effort and we need your help again now.
On going to Iraq, Jared noted:
How we end this war is one of the most critical issues we face for our future, and, if we can, we all should take the time and make the effort to learn about the situation firsthand. I met with Iraqi officials, relief workers, and others. In addition to providing me with this perspective, my reporting from Iraq gave a window on the occupation to my constituents, family, friends, and readership.
Jared is a pro-business Democrat who is known nationally as a visionary entrepreneur. He built innovative, successful companies, including Blue Mountain Arts, Provide Commerce / ProFlowers, and Fuser.com. Jared is a leading reformer of Colorado’s public schools. He served as Chairman of the State Board of Education and personally established several public charter schools aimed at serving underprivileged children.
Among other issues, Jared wants to focus on improving our national education system and fostering incentives for U.S. companies to invest in renewable energy production. We believe Jared’s education reform background and entrepreneurial mindset are much needed in Washington. For the full story on Jared’s accomplishments and his ideas, please see:

Jared’s business success allows him to self-finance part of his campaign, but a candidate for national office must demonstrate widespread monetary support to be viable in the eyes of the media and the electorate. The more financial supporters Jared has from across the country, the stronger and more credible his campaign will be. Princetonians were a key to the campaign’s start. Our new charge is to sustain its acceleration.
Please join us in making a significant contribution to Jared’s campaign. Your contribution of $500, $250, $100, or even up to the Federal limit of $4,600, by the December 31st quarterly deadline, will provide Jared with critical, timely support and will echo the strong message of change that is starting to ring among the mountains of Colorado. Please support one of our own to help lead our country. If you can contribute before December 31 it will help him tremendously as he has his quarterly filing with the Federal Election Commission due then, and pundits look at these reports to determine the viability of a candidate.
