Such is the case in San Diego County where the seat was vacated by Duke Cunningham going to prison. The entire nation is watching this election to see if the electorate is fed up with business as usual. Many psychologists in San Diego independently came to know Francine Busby, the Democratic candidate. They were impressed by her sincerity and enthusiasm for a progressive social agenda and for bringing ethical accountability to Congress. This gave birth to Psychologists for Busby. Busby is the type of person who will listen to all of her constitutents's concerns, including psychologists. She cannot be bought by special interests, but she will listen to reasonable points of view. She supports healthcare reform that will gradually increase the number of insured and supports mental health parity. Her accessibility is her trademark. Many psychologists are working very closely with her. Francine has strong grassroots support, including educators, seniors, women's groups, veterans and others.
