We are asking that dollars contributed on the page be used exclusively by the Kucinich campaign to support the recount effort.

The Recount is about election integrity.

There should be automatic recounting. Not because there is necessarily a specific suspicion of wrong-doing, but because it is a solid accounting practice and a good business habit that would ensure our democracy.

I think it's kind of crazy how candidates who ask for a recount get demonized. I'm not usually a fan of Dennis Kucinich, but I think he's doing a good thing here.

A candidate's request for a recount is the only means that we have to check on the integrity of our elections. And that is why Kucinich is requesting one, and why we should support his request.

We are heading in to one of the most important series of elections ever, both for the US and for the world. And there are serious concerns about whether our elections systems work, about whether too many votes are lost to voting methods that are dysfunctional, about how many votes are suppressed (sometimes without the voters knowledge). A general atmosphere of distrust and suspicion will keep voters away from the polls (why bother? too many of them will wonder) and weaken our democracy.

A recount now of an early race would be an excellent way to check the system and restore public confidence in American democracy.
