The Democratic Party needs visionary candidates who, like Robert F. Kennedy was, are authentically comfortable with, not dismissive of, moral values. Without this, our critical policy positions and agenda for change will not have an opportunity to be heard. Quality candidates should also have a clear and consistent record of supporting progressive party positions on core domestic and global issues that clearly differentiate us from the Republican Party. We cannot risk demoralizing our base by diluting our positions on these core issues, many of which can be crystallized in terms of âsocial morality.” By nominating solid, quality candidates who (a) know local issues, (b) run on a uniform theme that nationalizes the election, and (c ) conduct well-financed campaigns, the Democratic Party has the best chance to regain federal power.—Bill Arnonewilliam.arnone@ey.com
